Dear families,
The end of term 2 is nigh! Students and teachers have worked hard this term, and are very much looking forward to the mid-year break. Student reports will be circulated next Thursday via the new SEQTA Engage platform. At least one parent from each family must have registered with SEQTA Engage in order to receive their student’s reports. If you have any difficulty in connecting, please contact us ASAP. Numerous reminders have been sent via szapp, if you are looking for information in relation to this.
Families will have noted the opening of the access path from Arcoona Ave last week. I know many of you are very grateful for this development-as are we! I know that the remediation process has dragged on and I share your frustration at this. The oval area was to have been re-turfed by now, however a combination of factors, including weather, have held us up, and we now expect the area to be ready for term 3. Our new climbing frame and swingset should also be installed very soon, although that may not happen until week 2 of term 3.
Two weeks ago, our wonderful school bands competed in the annual “Battle of the Bands” program at Nazareth College. This year, competition was very strong, with many of Adelaide’s top independent colleges entering bands. Our students acquitted themselves admirably, and played their hearts out! We are s very proud of all of their efforts. Notably, Stathi Georganas was crowned best and most popular entertainer for the evening, which is a huge achievement and testament to his dedication to his craft. My sincere thanks to Ms Olivia Bozzon for her expert coordination of the band program at St Francis!
Our brand new digital sign has become operational, and it already making a big impression! We hope the sign will continue to promote and celebrate everything good about St Francis, as well as bring people to Christ the King parish community.
Tonight, our students will ‘Bop til they Drop’ at our R-4 Discos! It promises to be a great fun evening and my thanks go out to the P&F Disco committee for organising all aspects of the show!
It was lovely today to welcome our “Little Francis” transition families to school for one last visit before the students begin school full time from term 3! We celebrated the end of the program with a special Liturgy this morning. We will have 37 brand new Reception students from next term and they are all very excited to begin their school journey. Their teachers, Emily Sendy, Kate O’Dea and Tina Constantinides have been working beautifully to prepare the children for school life, and we can’t wait to see them in a few weeks.
As our school population continues to grow, I would just like to continue to draw families attention to safe vehicle movement around the school precinct. Of particular concern at the moment is the number of families who are driving in and out of the Henley beach entrance to drop off students at the school gate-often parking in the staff car park. I would remind families that this driveway and carpark are for staff and visitors to the school only, and not for drop off and pick up. I kindly ask that families either drop students off at the front of the church to walk to school, or to use the Arcoona Ave Kiss n Drop zone, or park and walk in. Your cooperation in this will keep our precious young people safe!
Save the Date! – You will all have received a ‘Save the Date’ note via szapp recently, for a P&F forum on Monday August 5 at 7pm. I want to strongly encourage families to consider attending this forum. It will be more than an operational P&F meeting-more an opportunity to contribute ideas and share thoughts about ways to build strong and connected community. Your voice, and ideas are very important to us and we would love for you to come along and participate! Further reminders will come via szapp over the coming weeks.
I take this opportunity to wish all families a safe and relaxing holiday period and we look forward to returning to school in term 3.
